Affordable Connectivity Program
The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more.

The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price. The Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

Cook for Cancer
Cook for Cancer provides free meals for any patient undergoing cancer treatment and their families living in Linn, Benton, and Lincoln counties. Thanks to The Corvallis Clinic Foundation, Dream Dinners, and community donations, these meals are offered free of charge to patients.

In 2020, the Foundation delivered 608 meals to over 100 local breast cancer patients through the Cooks for Cancer program. How Cook for Cancer Works Patients can access Cook for Cancer by self-referral or by a referral from a community member or health care professional. Meals are prepared in serving sizes of three or six at the local Corvallis Dream Dinners and delivered to patients at their convenience. Know Your Rights
The Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA) helps protect many women with breast cancer who choose to have their breasts rebuilt (reconstructed) after a mastectomy. Mastectomy is surgery to remove all or part of the breast.

This federal law requires most group insurance plans that cover mastectomies to also cover breast reconstruction. It was signed into law on October 21, 1998. The United States Departments of Labor and Health and Human Services oversee this law. There are additional protections under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). For plan years ( a plan year can be any 12-month period that the insurer chooses) beginning on or after January 1, 2014, a group health plan generally cannot limit or deny benefits relating to a pre-existing condition.

METAvivor is the only organization in the US that exclusively funds MBC research through a scientific peer-review process. We award research grants to individuals with a clinical or other doctoral degree who are actively engaged in areas of metastatic breast cancer research, and whose proposals show distinct promise in making a difference for the stage 4 breast cancer community. Our mission is to transition metastatic breast cancer from a terminal diagnosis to a chronic, manageable disease with a decent quality of life.

NW Family Services

There are two main types of Paid Leave available: 1. Medical leave When a serious health condition prevents you from working.

For example, you can qualify because of a major surgery, during pregnancy, to receive treatment for a chronic health condition and to receive inpatient treatment for substance abuse or mental health. The amount of paid leave you can take is determined by your medical provider (up to 12 weeks a year). 2. Family leave (includes bonding leave and military family leave) You can take paid time off to care for a family member with a serious health condition, or if you’re bonding with a new baby or child in your family. Military family leave allows you to spend time with a family member who is about to be deployed overseas or is returning from overseas deployment. You may use family leave to care for: Spouses and domestic partners Children (biological, adopted, foster or stepchild) Parents and legal guardians (or spouse’s parents) Siblings Grandchildren Grandparents (or spouse’s grandparents) Son-in-law and daughter-in-law Someone who has an expectation to rely on you for care—whether you live together or not. We may require documentation about your relationship to the person or certification of their medical need. You must have worked 820 hours in your qualifying period. Nearly every worker can qualify for Paid Leave if they worked a minimum of 820 hours (about 16 hours a week) in Washington during their qualifying period. Full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal work count. All hours you work in Washington count toward eligibility, even if you work multiple jobs or switch employers.

team consists of a nurse navigator and many volunteers who are cancer survivors. Help Project H.E.R. provides the following services to cancer patients: Direct contact with an Oncology Nurse Navigator who can assist with your oncologic care and support from diagnosis to survivorship. We also offer education and support groups. We partner with Dream Dinners to provide a free food program called Cook for Cancer. We have a one-time $500 grant for financial aid, gas cards to assist with travel expenses, and grocery cards available to patients. Project H.E.R. provides free services for cancer patients through the financial assistance of The Corvallis Clinic Foundation, grants, and private donations.
